HAJJ A Revival of Brotherhood
Once again we have reached to that part of the year regarding which Prophet(SalAllahu Alayhi wa Sallam) is reported to have said that
“There are no days during which the righteous action is so pleasing to Allah than these days (i.e., the first ten days of Dhul-Hijjah)” (Al Bukhari).
And it is only in these days that the Annual pilgrimage to Makkah that is Hajj is held. Hajj is a pillar of Islam and is obligatory upon every Muslim who is physically and financially fit for the long journey to the holy city of Makkah. All praises to Him, to whom belong the heavens and the Earth. What a spritual sight it is that millions of people are standing on the ground of Arafah irrespective of Nationality, Race, and Gender asking Allah for forgiveness and seeking His pleasure. There is no difference among the Pilgrims, the Rich and the Poor, the King and the Slave, the Boss and the Employee all are standing together in the same two pieces of white colour dress with their hands lifted towards sky and tears rolling down their cheeks asking the Almighty to get their names included among the Righteous Slaves. What a miraculous view it is to see all the pilgrims in Muzdalifa sleeping on ordinary mats under the open sky. Indeed it is the best act prescribed by my Lord and His messenger to make us realise the pain and agony a poor, roadside beggar who doesn’t have roof and shelter to protect himself, undergo. Verily this is the mercy of my Lord that every year through this season of Hajj a feeling of Brotherhood and Unity is revived.
