On the authority of Abu Sa’eed al-Khudree (ra) who said: I heard the Messenger of Allah (saw) say, “Whoso- ever of you sees an evil, let him change it with his hand; and if he is not able to do so, then [let him change it] with his tongue; and if he is not able to do so, then with his heart — and that is the weakest of faith.” [Muslim]
In the light of above hadith I feel sorry for some of our Muslim brothers and sisters because in the current scenario our state of imaan is not even at the weakest level. Forget about stopping from hand or by tongue instead we join in all the evils with the disbelievers.
On this eve of new year I see many of my Muslim friends making plans to celebrate it in the best possible way they can. Though we are all aware that celebrating new year has no room in our shariah and there is no Quranic verse or Authentic hadith regarding it.
The next thing that really clicked my mind after going through the hadith is the haraam relationship, or having unnecesary conversation with the opposite gender in our colleges and social networking sites. This is high time to examine our imaan and ask ourselves where we stand in the scale of imaan. what has happened to us that among infinite blessings of Allah on us, He has also honored us as the best of of all the ummah yet we are so ungrateful to Him and displease Him every now and then.
“You are the best ummah singled out for mankind: you enjoin what is right (ma’roof), forbid what is wrong (munkar), and believe in Allah.” ( Al Quran)
Do we really forbid our fellow humans or even our Muslim friends from wrong activities. We don’t even care to stop ourselves from evils how would we discourage our friends, when they do wrong we join them and appreciate it, without fearing Allah and His punishment.
And last but not the least is the birthday celebration, no Quranic verse or Hadith mention it, we have copied from the disbelievers and have grand celebration with DJs and late night dinners and what not which is completely against the sunnah of our beloved Prophet ( PBUH).
We have reached to that danger level that we don’t consider it even wrong anymore then how are we going to stop ourselves or others from it. We must be determined in our faith and be strong enough to atleast tell our close friends what is right and what is wrong. It is Allah the Almighty, who will help us to enjoin good and forbid bad. We can start atleast at our on small level among family and friends and set examples for others.
